PRICES

  • I use high quality archival materials only, from the oil paints and pastels to the canas and pastel paper. I don’t use any mediums to thin my paint, and use them straight from the tube. In the final layers of painting, I might use a high quality Linseed Oil.

  • Waiting times can vary, and depends on workload, but in general, there will be at least a 2 month waiting time.

I aim to create a painting that is faithful to the spirit of the animal or person I’m painting, and I pay a lot of attention to getting the details right. I also paint in a manner that requires many thin layers of paint, often requiring drying time in between. This means that a painting can take anywhere from two weeks to two months, and generally depends on the complexity of the elements involved (background and setting) as well as size.

If you’re planning on giving a beautiful painting to someone as a gift, and would like it done by a certain date, please discuss it with me beforehand to ensure that it can be done in time.

  • I work from photographs, and if you’re local to me, we can arrange a free photo session and I’ll take the photos myself. Otherwise I’m happy to work from photos that you supply, provided that they are high quality. When you send me your photos, we’ll discuss them, and together choose the right one(s) to create the portrait.

Once we’ve chosen the photos to work from, I’ll start the painting.

  • A 50% deposit is required with every order. The balance is due on completion of the painting, and once you’ve approved the online viewing of the final painting.

All international payments go through Paypal. Local customers are welcome to pay using bank transfer.

  • Once the final payment has been received, I will ship your painting. I only ship unframed paintings in secure, fine art packaging. This applies to paintings done on stretched canvas, which will arrive ready-to-hang, as well as those done on sheets of canvas, which you will have to frame yourself before it can be hung on a wall.

Keep in mind that shipping a ready-to-hang painting will be more expensive than shipping one on canvas sheets.

Pricing Examples

There are many canvas sizes to choose from, so I’ve only listed the most common sizes and prices below. When choosing what size you’d like your painting to be, take into consideration:

  • Your available wall space

  • How much money you want to spend

  • How many subjects you’d like on one canvas

  • Different options, for instance having three paintings, each one with a different animal on it, but all painted as a “set”, instead of one large painting with the same three animals on it.

Also note that all prices EXCLUDE postage.

All prices are based on ready-to-hang, gallery wrapped, 3cm deep canvas with sides painted. This will increase your postage cost, but it has the advantage of being ready to hang on arrival. If you’d like to choose a frame for your painting, and would prefer to have it painted on a canvas sheet instead, this will reduce your postage cost, but it won’t be ready to hang on arrival, as it will need to be professionally framed.

These are the factors that we discuss together before your commission starts, but it’s good to have some idea in mind before hand.

Other sizesin both square, rectangle and circle formats are available. Please contact me to discuss different sizes and prices.
